Getting started
When the Toggle Gift Card module is configured, you’ll see additional buttons on the Pay screen.
Pay Screen
Three buttons will be added to the Pay screen accessible by all POS Operators:
Balance Check (Check Monetary Value)
Gift Card Redeem (Redeem Voucher)
Void/Reverse (Reverse Voucher)
(Note, the naming of the buttons on the POS can be configurable)
Balance Checks
To check a value on a gift card, select the "Check Monetary Value" (or equivalently named) button on the POS.
From here you will be prompted to type or scan your gift card.
Once added, the gift card will be checked in Toggle and any value associated will be returned to the POS and displayed to the operator.
Redeeming a Gift Card
If a customer wishes to redeem a gift card then enter the products as normal. At the payment stage select “Redeem Voucher" (or equivalently named) button on the POS.
Scan or enter the gift card number to identify the card. At this point, a Balance Check is performed on the card to ensure the card is active, and has a balance associated.
Enter the value that the customer wishes to redeem. The maximum value that can be entered will either be the total balance on the card or the total of products in the account (whichever is smaller).
Once applied, the balance will be deduced from the Toggle gift card and from the check on the POS. If there is additional payments to be made, the operator will prompt the guest for further payment.
Tender and Discount
Tender and Discount values are supported by ICR Touch, meaning if you gift card was loaded with Tender (I.e. I paid £10, for a £10 gift card), Discount (i.e. I was given a free £10 gift card as part of a promotion) or a mix (i.e. I paid £10 for a £20 gift card, which has a £10 tender and £10 discount split on it) - then the relevant value will be applied to either a Tender payment type, or Discount payment type on the POS. If a gift card is being used as part payment for an account then it is best practice to apply the gift card pay first.
A gift card can be loaded and redeemed multiple times, so if the customer wishes to reload a card then they can do if they wish.
Reversals / Voids
To reverse a transaction, firstly;
Highlight the row for a gift card adjustment within the basket
Select the "Reverse Voucher" (or equivalently named)
The operator will be promoted to confirm;
And once confirmed, the voucher will be removed from the Basket and the value will be reversed against the Toggle gift card.
Common Error messages
There are validation checks at certain points within the journey, that will present themselves as an "Error" to the operator.
Cannot be more than voucher amount - This is displayed when the operator attempts to redeem more value than is on the gift card
Card number not found - This is displayed when a balance check, or balance redemption is attempted against an invalid card number
Gift card sales
Gift card sales are currently not supported by ICR Touch, only cards sold / Issued via another sales channel (i.e. Your Toggle webshop / Airship as a reward) can be redeemed.
