To connect your Toggle account with Comtrex EPOS you will first need to request the API details from the Toggle customer success team. Email us on support@usetoggle.com and intro us to your EPOS contact to get started.

We’ve put together a guide with Comtrex on how to use Toggle through your POS. Note that the screengrabs below are just a guide; your own Comtrex setup might look a little different to these.

Getting started

When the Toggle Gift Card module is configured, you’ll see four additional buttons added to the POS.

Pay Screen

Two will be added to the Pay Screen accessible by all POS Operators:

  • Gift Card Redeem

  • Gift Card Balance

Manager Pay screen

On the Manager Pay screen, you’ll see the same two buttons, but with two additional ones:

  • Gift Card Redeem

  • Gift Card Balance

  • Gift Card Issue (only accessible by POS operators with Manager permissions)

  • Gift Card Top Up (only accessible by POS operators with Manager permissions)

Issuing a card

  1. To issue a new gift card on-site, use the Gift Card Issue button. Once this button is pressed the operator will be prompted to enter the value that will be credited to the card.

2. Once the amount is entered and the ENTER button pressed the Operator will be prompted to swipe the card or manually enter the card number. The 16-digit number is usually printed on the back of the physical card (or just swipe it through to read the card number into the POS).

3. Once the ENTER button is pressed the Operator will close the transaction with the type of payment media the customer is paying with.

4. A Receipt showing the amount issued to the card will print:

Topping up a card

  1. If the customer wants at any time to top up the balance on their card the Operator should use the Gift Card Top Up button. They will then be prompted for the amount to top up:

2.  Swipe the card or manually enter the card number of the card to be credited:

3. Once the ENTER button has been pressed the Operator will close the transaction with the method of payment the customer is paying the top up with.

4. A receipt showing the Top Up value will print:

Checking a card balance

If a customer needs to check their current card balance, this can also be done through the till. To do this, use the Gift Card Balance button.

  1. Once the button has been pressed the Operator will be prompted to either swipe the card or manually enter the card number;

2. The balance will then be displayed on the screen:

3. And a receipt showing the balance will print:

Paying a bill / redeeming a gift card

To pay a bill using a gift card the Operator will use the Gift Card Redeem button.

  1. Once this button has been pressed the Operator will be prompted to either swipe the card or manually enter the card number:

2. Once the ENTER button has been pressed the Operator will be prompted to enter the amount that is to be redeemed from the card:

3. If the amount to be redeemed exceeds the balance on the card the Operator will be advised that the transaction will not be applied

4. If the entered amount to be redeemed is either equal to or less than the balance on the card then the payment will be applied to the check:

5. If there is any remaining balance this should be settled as usual using another payment method and a receipt will print in the usual manner, showing the gift card payment portion on the receipt:
