How to redeem a gift card on the dashboard (and FAQs)

Find out the steps to redeem a gift card and how it looks on your reports.

Summary

  1. Log into Toggle

  2. Click on Purchases and find the gift card

  3. Click on Adjust Card Balance

    1. For Type of adjustment select Redeem

    2. For Site select the relevant site

    3. For Adjustment amount add the amount to top the card up by

    4. For Reason for adjustment state why the top up is being done

  4. Click Submit to confirm the top up

FAQs

Can I redeem a gift card at the till?

Yes - the till providers we integrate with give you the option to redeem gift cards when guests visit you.

Please check our support guides for the till provider you use here, or get in touch with your Account Manager for your till provider for more information.

Can I redeem a gift card on POS Mode?

Yes - if you use POS Mode you can simply redeem gift cards on there whenever needed.

Why would I redeem a gift card on the dashboard, like shown on this guide?

Sometimes situations occur where you will need to reduce a gift card's balance down to Β£0 (for example, if you need to cancel the order the gift card was purchased under, but cannot because it was already partially used).

Or perhaps you didn't get a chance to redeem a gift card when a guest visited you in venue, or your till wasn't working for some reason - using this feature here gives you the opportunity to redeem the balance of the gift card.

How does the redemption look on the Toggle reports?

A redemption done through the dashboard will show up as 'redeemed' on your reports.

Below is an example from the Balance Adjustments report:

Any Reason for adjustment you left when redeeming the card up will show up on the Notes column on the Discounts and Balance Adjustments reports, including the User who did the balance adjustment, the date and time it happened, and the Unit it was for.

Does the customer get notified when their gift card is redeemed?

No - if you are redeeming a gift card from the dashboard, you can use the "send digital copy" button to send an updated digital voucher to their email which will contain the updated balance (if there's any balance left).

Alternatively you can advise them to use the "check balance" feature found on your online Toggle shop.
