Introduction

  • When you sign up your Toggle account you are given a default domain containing your brand/company name followed by mytoggle.io - e.g. yourbrand.mytoggle.io.

  • To see your current domain, log in to Toggle and click Customise > Domain

Step 1: Decide what your subdomain name will be

  • The most common ones are 'gifts' or 'shop'.

    • gifts.yourcompany.com

    • shop.yourcompany.com

Step 2: Log into your domain provider

  1. Go to DNS Settings

    • This might be found under something like "advanced settings" or "manage domain" depending on your provider

  2. Add a CNAME record using these details:

    • Host: e.g. gifts or shop - or whatever subdomain you have chosen

    • Points to: your default Toggle domain (it'll look something like: yourbrand.mytoggle.io).

    • TTL: Set to 1 hour or 3600 seconds

  3. Save your changes

    • Test it using the CNAME Lookup Tool (example below)

      • Green tick = Success!

      • Red X = Double-check your set up on your domain provider

Step 3: Set Up SSL

If you have successfully set up your domain name, you need to:

  • Email Toggle support at (success@usetoggle.com) with your custom domain

  • They’ll configure the SSL certificate for secure browsing

Step 4: Update Your Toggle Dashboard

Once the Toggle team has done the SSL, you need to:

  1. Go to Customise > Domain in your Toggle dashboard

  2. Enter your new domain and save

You'll see your new domain showing on the 'My shop link' found on the dashboard sidebar (like shown below) and also on your browser search bar when you access your Toggle shop.

FAQs

Why create a sub-domain?

Sub-domains let you use a branded URL like shop.yourcompany.com instead of Toggle's default.

Some benefits include:

  • Easier for customers to remember

  • Looks professional and trustworthy

  • Improves search engine visibility

How do I log into my domain provider?

Your domain provider (also known as a domain registrar) is a company that manages domain names. If you don't know what yours is, type your web address using this website: lookup.icann.org to find out.

After this, find their website and log into it.

Can I change my sub-domain later?

Yes, repeat the steps above for a new domain.

What if customers use the old domain?

They’ll be automatically redirected to the new one.

Does it cost extra?

Your domain provider might charge a fee - check with them.
