Here’s a quick guide about some of the extra tools Toggle has built in to help protect your checkout from fraudsters.
First things first - if you haven’t already, take a moment to read up on the two main types of fraud and some simple steps on managing them through your payment gateway and general good practice:
Address & CVC checks
Toggle collects billing addresses and CVC codes for every payment and sends them to your payment gateway. This lets card issuers check if the billing address matches the card - helping block dodgy transactions.
Tip: Ask your payment gateway support (or check your settings) to reject cards that can’t verify postcode/zip details.
3D secure
At checkout, 3D Secure asks customers to confirm their identity with their bank before completing a purchase. Toggle has this switched on by default for cards that support it.
Visa calls it Verified by Visa, and MasterCard calls it SecureCode - both shift chargeback liability away from you.
Idea: Not every card supports 3D Secure. You could ask your gateway to reject non-3D Secure payments, but that might block some legit orders too.

reCAPTCHA
Note: this feature is available only for the payment gateway Stripe.
If you’re using Stripe, you can turn on reCAPTCHA in Toggle. This can be switched on or off whenever needed. It blocks bots while whilst ensuring legitimate customers can make purchases.
Order Rate Limit
Toggle automatically protects against bot attacks with an order rate limit: if your shop gets 60+ orders in a minute, Toggle pauses new orders for 5 minutes and queues them.
Shoppers will see a message saying "We've put you in a queue".
Toggle will also get a notification and reach out if we spot anything unusual.
Customer Success team notifications
Similar to the point above, the Toggle team gets alerts if your account shows a spike in orders. If it looks suspicious, we’ll let you know.
But real-time monitoring isn’t guaranteed if we're not around, so stay vigilant! We recommend setting up SMS or email alerts via your payment gateway to stay on top of things. Check point 2 outlined in our guide below for more info.
