If your customers have installed Apple Wallet or Google Wallet on their phone, they can store their gift card on there for quick and easy redemption later on.

Toggle set up

To ensure the wallet functionality works on the customer's phone, just ensure you have a 'Thumbnail' logo set up on your Toggle account. This logo will appear for customers on their Apple or Google Wallet.

  1. Log into Toggle

  2. Go to Customise > Logos and click Thumbnail logo (square)

  3. Upload your logo

  4. Save

Please note the dimensions we recommend so the logo looks crisp is 300px x 300px. File size should be under 20MB.

How it looks and works

With the Thumbnail logo done, here's how things will look for your customer.

1. Customer receives a digital voucher by email

When a customer is sent a digital gift card by email, the Add to Apple Wallet and Google Wallet buttons will appear towards the bottom of the email, as seen in the example below.

Here's how those two buttons look a bit closer up.

2. Customer clicks on 'Add to Wallet'

Once the customer clicks the "Add to Google Wallet" or "Add to Apple Wallet" button found on their digital voucher, they will be be taken to their Wallet and asked if they want to add that voucher to the wallet.

Here's a visual demo how this process looks on Google Wallet:

  • Once they click "Add" then they will see it's ticked to show it's been added successfully.

  • If they then click "View in Wallet" they will then see the voucher

The voucher details include the voucher name, the current balance, and the QR code (if they are scanning the voucher to redeem it). The long number is also shown below the QR code in case the customer can't scan the voucher.

To see the expiry date the customer can click the 3 vertical dots found in the top right of their screen (as shown on the picture on the right above), and they will see a page like the example below:

FAQs

What happens when the gift card is redeemed?

When the gift card is redeemed the balance is automatically updated on the Wallet (usually within a few seconds).

In the example below the gift card was partly redeemed and this updated the balance accordingly:

What happens if the expiry date is changed?

Sometimes you might be asked to extend the expiry of a customer's gift card. This can be done through your Toggle dashboard as explained here.

Once the expiry date is updated on the dashboard this will immediately update the validity of the voucher.

However, if the voucher is already stored on Apple or Google wallet the updated expiry won't show until the voucher has been used again - such as after being redeemed or topped up.

Why isn't the voucher balance updating in Apple Wallet?

iPhone users will need to switch on the "Automatic Updates: Allow the pass to receive updates from the issuer" on their Apple Wallet settings to ensure their voucher balances are up to date.

Can customers who have received a physical gift card add it to their digital wallet?

Yes - if they are sent a digital copy of their physical gift card this will allow them to add it to their Wallet via the digital voucher email. There's two ways this can be achieved:

  1. You can use the "Send digital copy" button on their order found on the Toggle dashboard

  2. The customer can register their gift card on your Toggle shop

How can I remove the Apple or Google Wallet buttons on my digital vouchers?

If for whatever reason you want the Apple and Google Wallet buttons hidden off on your Toggle account please get in touch with the Toggle support team.
