Why use this feature?
Free gift cards can be sent for many reasons:
✅ Goodwill gestures
✅ Replacing lost reservations
✅ Rewarding staff
✅ Competition prizes
✅ To see how vouchers look
✅ To test a gift code on your tills
Sending in bulk
Single recipient: You can send up to 50 gift cards to the same email or address at once directly from this feature.
Multiple recipients: If you want to send gift cards to a variety of people (e.g. to different email addresses), take a look at our Bulk Orders tool on the dashboard.
As a side note, you may also be interested in our integrations that can send free gift cards to your customer base for different situations. For example:
Airship CRM: Automatically send birthday or sign up vouchers
Feed It Back: Automatically issue vouchers for reviews or goodwill gestures
Who pays for free gift cards issued using this feature?
Recipients don’t pay directly - but you can find a way to take payment outside of Toggle, such as through your payment gateway provider.
The voucher value is added to your monthly Toggle invoice - please contact your Toggle Account Manager if you're unsure what your billing plan is.
Tracking free gift cards
The reports found on the Data section of your Toggle dashboard will let you easily track free gift cards issued through the dashboard.
For example, on the Cards report free gift cards are marked as FOC (Free of Charge).
You can also see who issued a free gift card on the Balance Adjustments report by looking at the "Users" column cross-referenced with the Sales channel.
If the Sales Channel says 'Toggle dashboard' on the Balance Adjustments report this means it was issued free of charge using this feature.
If you search for an order on the Purchases section of the Toggle dashboard then you can tell if it was issued free of charge from the dashboard if the Sales channel says 'Toggle Dashboard' (like in the example below). Another give away is there'll be no Merchant transaction reference - since no payment was taken through your payment gateway or till.
